Leigh: Re Dell's Ft Worth plant and one sq mile of land.
Note: These plans should not be construed as immediately beneficial to Dells stock price.
However, its obvious that Dells vision and goals are still alive. The incentives cover 40 to 60 years ( talk about planning ahead!). And business or expected future business is such that Dell sees some cost savings
here instead of expanding the new Nashville area which
extends along the full length of an airfield, was expected to employee 1000 intially, and has already grown to 3500.
Comments about growth in the small business area I interpret as meaning Dell plans to underprice and outsell others in the field by a wide margin - a demonstrated winning game for them. Low margins? Un-original? Maybe so, but a solid income producer IMO.
There is still some pessimism about the semi/computer
industry today. Is Intel backing down on new plants in Arizona, Israel. Is AMD decreasing or increasing production. ? How about IBM and the copper wired chips?
If one listens to the bears, these managers are all "off their rockers" expanding production in a decaying industry.
Are people decreasing their on-line purchases and going back stores to buy computers and related products. Will all those lawyers and newsmen in Florida require more or less bandwidth to transmit data and pictures over the internet?
How many hits are their URL's getting?
The Dade county vote recount (now cancelled) gives some clues to what it would be like( not good)(G), and manpower required to return the good old days of hand computation and record keeping.
Long live the digital age....
