Canada has vast forests. Its performance does not match its rhetoric, however. Lucky for us, since we get the lumber from them that we can't produce for ourselves anymore due to our unsustainable practices.

Canada is among those advancing a proposal that would allow countries to
negotiate credits individually for the contribution that their forests make to
the fight against climate change. It would be a major change from the
approach pursued fruitlessly until now of trying to devise a universal formula
for forest credits.

"What we're suggesting is that there be a simple recognition of the
importance of comprehensive forest management," a senior Canadian official
said Thursday in Bonn.
