The Immigration act is demonstrative of an inferior work product of our congress. Fact is we've absorbed these immigrants long ago, and if politicians like tancrito had any bandwidth at all he would move the game. Bush was just in mexico and failed to assume the leadership opportunity that trip invited;

The American people need to demand more from our political leadership, the opportunity in Mexico could have played out far differently if our leadership understood and accepted underlying truth.

What mr Bush should have done is reframed the debate; He should have invited the mexican people to examine our constitution in contrast to mexicos, having done that he should have invited directly in a speech to the mexican people to decide for themselves whose form of government preserves their basic interests.

Having done this as step 1, he reframes the debate and invites a direct democracy movement, instead of putting up fences we should tell vicente fox and or the next leader that America has heard the pattering of mexican feet and has decided its time for a quid pro quo, for every mexican defector, we'll take x square meters of mexican territory. In effect instead of walling us in to keep them out, we should be welcoming them to the Mexican border states and one by one adopt those states into our more perfect Union.

The whole debate is framed in class warfare dynamics and needs to be elevated with original ideas, which offer the quid pro quo necessary to relieve tension and move this debate forward.
