After the initial rescue efforts of the first couple of days, only one survivor was pulled (five to seven days later from the 880 Freeway collapse of Loma Prieta, "Lucky Buck." Aside from injuries sustained in the freeway collapse, he had had serious health problems and died about a week after his rescue.

We can only hope that the people in the planes and the buildings in NYC and DC and those in the field in Pennsylvania never knew or felt what hit them.
