>QUESTION: Does ZIP Have to Replace the Floppy to Become a Standard?

I agree as well. Fact is, the 1.4 floppy has outlived its usefulness only able to handle the smallest of files. The Zip is to the 1.4 floppy what the 1.4 floppy was to the 800K. And with all the OEMs on board and a 6M installed base, the Zip will become the defacto standard. CD-ROM could've been it had it had the re-writable capabilty at a relatively cheap price a year ago.
