The Chinese aren't oppressing the Tibetans with American tanks, helicopters and funds. We might, theoretically, have some influence over the Israeli occupied territories.

Some 200 million Chinese jobs directly depend upon continuing exports to the United States.

I would say that nets us a bit of influence, were we willing to ignore the investment opportunities which have recently become available there.

Btw, I noticed that website failed to mention the amount of direct financial assistance we provide to countries such as Egypt, or our total Foreign Aid assistance.

We're, once again, the #1 provider of Foreign Aid in the world (although lower per GDP).

But our strategy has always been to facilitate trade rather than aid.

As for "influencing" Israel, it stands to reason that such influence is greatly enhanced when they arn't facing suicide bombers trying to blow up innocent civilians. So long as Israel can point to such Islamic Jihadists as a major force behind Palestinian agendas, our influence is limited.

In fact, it may only be because of increased aid to Israel that we were able to RESTRAIN Israel from taking even more forceful actions.
