Swiss Ascom sets telecoms outsourcing deals

BERNE, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Swiss telecommunications equipment group Ascom Holding AG announced two outsourcing deals on Wednesday in a bid to reduce production costs in a very competitive market.

Ascom said it had signed a memorandum of understanding to transfer its Solothurn manufacturing site to U.S.-based DII/Dovatron DIIG . It signed another memorandum with Swiss utility Atel to sell its Ascom Installationen AG unit.

Ascom shares closed up 80 Swiss francs at 4,075, off a high at 4,145, in a generally firmer Swiss market.

Ascom Chief Executive Hans-Ulrich Schroeder told a news conference both deals would lead to a cash inflow of "a good 100 million Swiss francs."

Does ASCOM have a cash flow problem?
