where are you getting your stats on market share?
amd was close to 20% in pc-cpu shipments, if I recall it correctly, in 4q01. Are there new stats out there?

and what exactly amd loosing money means to you?
amd is in good cash position and picked up few fab deals on fire-sale while intel's decline is short of scary.

P4 gained marginal performance lead over athlon, true, but that is at at .13um vs athlons .18um and hammer is knocking on the door, so to speakIntel capex of last year resulted in what seems to be huge overcapacity. If Elmer is right about high yields for nw then move to 300mm would result in higher production costs.

And last but not the least, you do know the difference between the value and the current earnings?

If intel would have a victory in price war then Intel would not need to resort to misinformation about QS, would it?
If intel would have a victory over amd they would not have to plan deep mobile chip price cuts, would it?

Intel took dollors out of your pocket and hence - "The reason for waging the price war was therefore accomplished."
