The New York Times on Rendition

AMERICAN FUTURE

Before saying this,

<<<

Certainly, some of Europe’s shock at the news of the C.I.A. camps is political theater aimed at the widely anti-American European public. But that doesn’t make it any less disturbing that the United States government seems to have lost its ability to distinguish between acts that may occur sub rosa in some exceptional, critical situations and the basic rules of proper international behavior.

Clinton’s Renditions

antimedia.us

this,

The Germans’ Dirty Hands
service.spiegel.de

and this.

Europe’s Double Standard
online.wsj.com

Especially the instances where a suspect was rendered to a country the State Department “does not care to name”.

If the editors are going to condemn the Bush administration, they should also condemn the Clinton administration, along with France, Germany, and Spain.

I’ll bet there are no such editorials.
