yet the university is pressing forward, claiming that it takes the charges "seriously."
Well, I do think it's silly to pick the word "seriously" out of the entire sentence: "The university so far has declined to stop the investigation, saying in its response that it takes 'any allegation of sexual harassment seriously.'"
You can't stop people from making charges, even frivolous charges. Let the system deal with it.
There's no legal justification for the charge and thus, it won't actually go anywhere.
Lest anybody feel inclined to blame feminists, the professors filing the charges are males, and gay. They felt threatened by the librarian's suggestion of "The Marketing of Evil," which, according to the review on Amazon, claims that the gay civil rights movement is somehow fabricated and marketed. amazon.com
I wouldn't call it "sexual harassment" but it's definitely going to ruffle feathers of gay faculty members, especially the "evil" part. Any surprise here?
I do wonder whether it's appropriate in an academic setting to promote a book that claims that the gay civil rights movement is "evil." Not exactly sexual discrimination but certainly offensive, and, for someone who may not have tenure, unwise. |
