Why is this statement worthy of disdain?
It's not short, sweet and pithy, but probably wasn't intended to be.
And, it happens to be true.
The fact that the people he described make their own choices doesn't change the fact that they had fewer choices to begin with, were living in harder places than most of us can even imagine, and don't get the second chances you can get if you have money to pay for good lawyers or mom and dad can afford to put you into rehab. |
