Gina, I agree, but going to the extremes of the criminals wouldn't be a bad idea. Two eyes for an eye and two beatings for a beating, confiscation of triple the property, might get the message across.

The essence of freedom is to determine one's own destiny without impeding others. The Taleban didn't like that approach. They preferred outright dominance and telling others how to run their lives. Come to think of it, the USA and New Zealand and all other governments do the same thing to a greater or lesser extent.

The more developed the government, the more they are able to dominate citizens and tell them how they shall live, what colour they shall paint their house, how they will do this that and the other and whether they are allowed to do this that or the other even if it's nothing to do with other people.
