As someone mentioned a few weeks ago, the only reason you are allowed to upgrade your Bose stereo in your car at all is that the car companies were sued on antitrust grounds on exactly this point. The radio. And they lost, so, you can now choose third party stereo equipment, instead of Philco or some other captive brand.
