it would be nice if we could see the calculations for the amt tax. first you MAY qualify for amt if you come with some minimum requirement.

Next as i remember there are a serious of checks , calculations to determine if you have to pay any amt.

I wonder if the family with ten exemptions only paid a $1000. in tax (what was the families gross income) and it was the amt. Perhaps they didn't have to pay any tax or were in the 10% tax bracket.

articles are great and would be even better if the reader could review the complete playing field not just what the writer wants you to believe. Certainly no one likes amt but i do not remember Kerry getting up in front of the senate on tax reform.. usually we have democrat leaders not wanting anyone to take away the amt if unpopular until they get into power. why let Bush take the credit? Kerry this is another flip , flop...
