The real positive is transforming Iraq into a better place for everyone. If we don't do it, withing ten years, there will be a new Saddam to take the place of the old one.

Agreed, but it does not necessarily need to involve spending US tax dollars. There will be some cost, that is inevitable, but we are not going to build a Switzerland on Euphrates with US tax dollars.
