I am not talking about US troops Bodhisattva. Part of the reason why a parallel here is not appropriate IMHO.

The British and French could've stopped Hitler by themselves without US assistance. It's as simple as that.

And the only reason the Americans got involved when they did was because of Pearl Harbour. You have to remember that domestic support for engaging American forces abroad in conflicts perceived to be relatively unimportant to their country was not terribly high. Especially after their WWI experience and hence the isolationist policies pursued.

And even if US troops had intervened early, what diplomatic ramifications are you talking about? What allies did Germany have? Italy? LOL

Bear in mind the non-aggression pact with the Soviet Union was just that. A promise on the part of both nations to avoid getting into conflict with each other and divide Poland in two while giving Stalin a free hand in the Baltics. Do you honestly think that Stalin would have rushed to Hitler's aid earlier on? Then again, the pact wasn't even signed until 1939! so your point has no point.

The fact is Hitler was stoppable and you'll find most European or military historians would agree with this point.
