Bobby spews:

Man, you are stuck. I was referring to Scrapp's comment on Micron not selling 2x modems with their PCs. 2x modem is not necissarily US Robotics.

Oh really???? You only mentioned fantacies about modem problems. Here is the first parragraph (no cuts between lines) from your post I responded to, bonehead:

Its probably a good idea not to sell modems that do not support a standard. If the company did, and a standard was developed, how are they going to handle their customers with their recently purchased modems that just have been outdated by the new standard modems that come out. For that matter, I have learned over many years of supporting dial-in end users always to go with standards and equipment that implements them faithfully. This sidesteps alot of hassles for both the service provider and the customer.

You are a tripp!

1. Not all modems are software upgradable.

All Current USRX modems are...this is a USRX forum, no?
Go away, you bother me son.

2. If you have been paying attention to the development of 2x modems, the 56K standard is currently a prorpiertary standard from US Robotics. Not everyone purchases this brand of modem.

Again, as I stated in my 1st post..What is your point?!?!?
Your starting to bore me.

I get t he impression that you have never supported modem users or used a modem in many different circumstances. The support of the current crop of modems does not necissarily depend on location of modem such as "city" or 'rural". It all depends on the quality of telephone connection whcih can even vary connection to connection. I have foundusers in both city and rural areas to have trouble bnfitting
from 33.3K modems. I have rarley run into users who have obtained consispently a 33.3 or even a 28.8K connection. Please reread my post here.

I guess your going to tell me it took a genius to figure that out.
Well you definately established one thing. Your comunications skills are definately NOT up to par. It looks like you had an extented modem fart on one of line!

That remindes me of the old days:
"Honey can I use the ph!@&#($&(*#(*%%#$?"
Boy when my wife used to do that I knew it was time for a second line!
Maybe you should do the same thing! But make sure you clean your drawers! Don't want to have a dirty line with modem-farts and all.

And yesd, time of day and even tenperature is a factor. Here in Tucson, Arizona during the summer, only 24K connections with the ocoassional 26K connection are possible. During our winter here, 26 and sometimes even 28.8K connettions are possible.

Would you please slow down?!?!? Step back...take a breath...now type. I can't understand ya! I will try to INFER what you communicated.
Reply: Just because you get poor connections does'nt mean the majority will see sub-v.34 performance. Get real, bonehead! Here in the east V.34 is the norm. 56k is a welcom increase in performance that many can take advantage of. Gees...your little modem bank has problems and you go ape-s**t! Maybe it is administrator error???

Had a bad day???

I work regular hours. My day is just starting. Ask me in 8 hours. You have a bad night shift (that's where they put the sub-par admins).

You are certainly agressive with you reply considering that it is evident you really do not understand the real world issues related to modems and supporting end users that use modems. Next time, consider the possability that the person you are replying to may actually know more about the subject than you do. With this possability in mind, you may actually learn something that may surprise you. At the very least, you would keep yourself from looking silly in from of perhaps hundreds of people out there reading you post that may also be much more experienced than you.

Take a gander at: techstocks.com

Now pull up lycos and do a search for my full name (only 2 of us in the states.) Read and enjoy, you might learn a few things.

Sorry to all the regulars for posting the above link again. But sometimes it is just better to let the support-know-nothings, who think they know it all, get a taste of the science behind engineering, not hearsay.

Now shooo!
Be gone!
Kazoo!
