/ shame and disgrace in Japan./ The Japanese are very canny businessmen in that the "disgrace" is in getting caught ( not "just" Intel, but the J5 as well ). Remember when the biggest Jap bank collapsed - the boss ( forgotten his name ) was weeping in front of the cameras - thoroughly disgraced. Before the facts came out - he wasn't weeping ! From what I learnt sharing an office for 2 years with a high ranking Japanese businessman ( that was 30 yrs. ago ) and many dealings with Japanese companies, I can say that this JFTC thing will cost a BIG loss of face - for Intel in particular. The penalty was a nominal 30K$ - but the real penalty was that the JFTC publicly said that Intel is at fault and must change their ways = loss of face.
