Here's what I turned up on short notice, from USA Today's COMDEX cocverage, dated November 18, in its Life section:

"Here are the some of the biometric products on display at Comdex:

"* Motorola Identix DFR 300. A $60 fingerprint-reading technology due in December that Motorola says could be used in devices for unlocking your car, logging onto a PC or operating a cell phone. It's just 4.5 millimeters thick, making it the smallest such fingerprint reader, Motorola says. A larger version has been used in Compaq laptops."
