Actually, for one of them, the answer is obvious: Government will find other ways to get your money. Should the government do that? Some would argue no because of many reasons. One is the lack of fiscal responsibility. Why cut the pork when all you need to do is raise more money? Another is the impact the additional taxes will have on the economy. They weren't kidding when they said, "The power to tax is the power to destroy." Finally, and this may be related to the first two points, but saying the government should get the money is arguing that the money is best spent by the government for whatever purpose or program you believe in. That might be true for roads and schools and defense, but it's hardly ever true for many other programs funded by the federal government. Tenchusatsu
