biz.yahoo.com

HILLSBORO, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 25, 2002--Intel
Corporation's wireless LAN technology has been integrated as a feature on select models of the new IBM(1) ThinkPad(1) T30 notebook announced earlier this week.

The IBM ThinkPad T30 notebook PC with Intel-integrated, WiFi-certified wireless LAN technology features the new Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor - M and enables users to connect to existing wireless LAN networks at up to 11 Mbps without having to purchase additional network adapters.

Users can be more productive with continuous, wireless access to the network services, e-mail, and the Internet as they move around the office and between conference rooms. Integrated wireless LAN capabilities complement the Ethernet connections from Intel that are already used in the IBM ThinkPad T30 notebook PC providing even greater bandwidth when using a wired LAN connection.

``The combination of powerful Mobile Intel Pentium 4 Processor - M based notebooks and high-speed wireless connectivity to the Internet provides an exciting new mobile computing experience for our mutual customers,'' said Leo Suarez, vice president, worldwide product marketing, IBM Personal Computing Division. ``By integrating Intel's wireless connections into new notebooks, we are making it easier for customers to join the wireless world.''

IBM is using a mini-PCI adapter from Intel that combines a WiFi-certified wireless LAN connection with a dial-up modem on the same adapter inside the IBM ThinkPad T30 notebook.

``We are pleased IBM selected Intel to provide the wireless connectivity for their new notebooks,'' said Jim Johnson, vice president of the Intel Communications Group and general manager of Intel's Platform Networking Group. ``Intel's strong understanding of corporate networking and our role in driving wireless LAN industry standards help us enhance the mobility and accelerate the adoption of wireless LAN technologies.''

The IBM ThinkPad T30, a thin and light mobile powerhouse, offers customers choices of wireless connectivity with industry-leading security technologies and provides them with patented features that make it easier to manage and restore PCs and reduce IT support costs. The T30, IBM's new flagship notebook computer, features major innovations such as UltraNav, a revolutionary multi-pointing system that allows users to quickly and easily choose the way they want to work.

Intel, the world's largest chip maker, is also a leading manufacturer of computer, networking and communications products. Additional information about Intel is available at www.intel.com/pressroom.
