NOVL down slightly after hours:

AFTER THE BELL - Epitope dips slightly

NEW YORK, Aug 26 (Reuter) - Shares in Epitope Inc moved down by a quarter in
after-hours trade on Tuesday after the company said all the lawsuits brought
against it over a batch of tainted strawberries were being dismissed,
traders said.

The company, which makes genetically engineered agricultural products,
traded at 6-3/4 after the bell, down from an unofficial close of 7, traders
said.

Epitope said plaintiffs dropped the suit because the berries were sold by a
former unit of the company, before it was acquired by Epitope.

Elsewhere, shares in Novell Inc (NOVL) were bumped a bit below their closing
level after gaining nearly a point during regular-hours trade.

The networking software company's stock apparently moved on a rumor that
International Business Machines Corp (IBM) might acquire Novell. After
closing unofficially at 9-31/32, Novell shares traded at 9-7/8 after hours,
traders said.

No shares traded out of line, however.

``It's very quiet,'' one trader said of the late-August trading session.
``It's a big vacation week.''

The New York Stock Exchange said session one had volume of 42,600 on
Tuesday, compared with 34,700 for the previous day, while session two volume
was 36 million, compared with four million on Monday.

The Amex reported after-hours volume of 4,900, compared with 4,300 on
Monday.
