Sitting in front of the TV chain smoking and chain crying. End of innocence for sure and the first real dose of reality for boomer generation. I was a 29 year old with a Wife and three kids who had voted for him. Still can't watch footage of the Funeral. Saw the Oswald killing live. I was watching live when Bobby was killed in LA. I was watching parts of a "History Channel" special last night on him. Kennedy was so sick after Vienna that he spent three weeks in bed. The Russians are quoted as chortling that he was a coward who could be rolled. Vienna caused the Cuban Missile Crisis. They listed his weekly drug intake. Makes Rush look like an innocent. The capper was an interview with Ben Bradlee. He talks about watching movies at the White House with Kennedy where he was wheeled in flat on his back in bed to see them. Right after Vienna. The unspoken part is that Bradlee and the rest covered it up. I don't believe for a minute that the WH press didn't know what was going on. Just outrageous that they covered it up. Even today, after all this is listed in these Bios, the Mainline Historians won't face the truth. They still go with the myths and romanticize Kennedy.
