Hey Joe...here is Briefing.com : 08:30 e.t.

Old news or not, talk is again circulating that IBM may be interested
in acquiring this computer networking software concern. In the past
similar rumors have made the rounds given the competitive challenges
that NOVL has encountered from MSFT and its Windows NT operating system versus Novell's Netware. While the talk of a possible interest
by IBM is not new, the timing could be in that it comes right after
Novell reported a larger-than-projected fiscal 3rd qtr loss last week
that was caused by a large plunge in sales. While Novell made a conscience decision not to ship products to its indirect distribution
channel in order to bring its inventories in line, most Wall Street people were caught off guard by the large 75% drop in revenues in the quarter as the company attempted to clean house in the latest quarter by putting out all of its dirty laundry into this quarter's report.

And while the outlook is still positive that Novell will be able to rebuild its sales and market share in the ensuing quarters, the possibility that IBM may be hanging around kicking tires is not too far fetched either. A union with IBM would certainly provide Novell with increased market weight to fend off MSFT and a pretty good distribution channel. Even if the talk of a possible deal proves to be just that, talk, the latest rumor certainly makes for more interesting trading in the stock during a rather slow news period for the market.

Hold ur breath...
