I saw what you were reading. It was that "World Can't Wait" ad in the New York Times. The one signed by Jane Fonda, Ward Churchill, and Cindy Sheehan.
They are famous people. They are in the news all the time. What they say is important. They are in the New York Times. And they are warning you. Your country is being ruled by a man who is worse than Hitler. Christian theocrats are oppressing the masses. The poor are dying in the streets. We are at war with Oceania. We have always been at war with Oceania.
The warmongers do that. They want the poor to die in the streets.
We know you seek the truth, Neo. That is why you read the New York Times. It is why you watch the news.
Is there any truth, Neo? Would you know it if you saw it?

Of course you would. It's on the news every night. They show you the truth, don't they, Neo. They show you pictures of the truth. The newscaster tells you the truth.
Things are very bad right now. Tyranny rules. The people are unhappy. There are no jobs. There is no food. The government is moving — right now they are doing it — to deny women all over the world their rights.
You know these things. Everyone knows these things. It is reality.
But you have your doubts, don't you Neo. Since you were a child, you've had the sense that something is wrong. You've never quite fit in. Other people in the Community seem... distant. As if they're not quite real.
Do you know what the Community is, Neo? Would you like to see it? The Community isn't what you think it is. Reality isn't what you think it is. The Reality Community is an illusion, Neo. It's a trick. It's in your mind.

They put it in your mind, Neo. They transmit it into your mind, and it becomes your reality. The leader of your country becomes Hitler. People who go to church become stormtroopers. The middle class vanishes, replaced by millions of desperate homeless people without jobs or hope.
That's what it's like in the Reality Community.
That's what they want it to be like for you, Neo. They want it to seem like everything is bad and getting worse. They have their reasons, but that need not concern us here.
What is important is that it is time. You've always suspected that all of this was an illusion. That someone, somewhere, was filling your head with lies. And now it is time... for you to find out the truth... to see the Community for what it is. For the illusion that it is.

Reality is not what you see on the blue screen, Neo. Reality is not even blue. We will show you. But first you must look away from the Blue Screen of Death. You must free your mind from everything around you that is blue.
We know you took the blue pill, Neo. They give everyone the blue pill. They pass it out in school. They include it with their newspapers. They would like you to think that everyone has taken the blue pill; that everyone sees the same blue world that you see.
But it is not so. Outside the Reality Community, there is another world — the real world. The world where the Nazis were defeated, and haven't come back. If they try to come back, we stop them. It's a world where most people do have jobs; and if anything, too much food. It's a place where most things, for most people, are pretty good. It's not a perfect world. But it's not a place that would make anyone blue.
Unless they took the blue pill. And watched the blue screen.
