This is a little OT but valid.

Last spring I seem to recall noting that I thought an inflationary response was coming, and that our economy was expanding. This was after taking a trip to the L48, after being holed up here in AK for a spell. The difference over my previous trip was notable.

Well I just returned after another long trip. It appears to me the economy in the L48, from a personal observation sort of perspective, is still picking up steam. The stock market seems to be confirming that.

I have traveled a fair amount my whole career, through booms and busts. It is easy to sense the 'pace' of things when traveling like this, on business. It just takes a little observation. When things get really tough the airplanes, airports, hotels, etc. are basically empty and free of hassles. I remember what it was like in the Southwest, after the early 80's oil bust. I could fly to Houston from Tulsa and hardly touch elbow with anyone else on the plane.
