I've invited my old college roommate out to some skiing in Utah this Feb. He's a relative neighbor of yours, a lawyer though. Was the Lane County Assistant DA for many years. Followed the DA into private Practice. A trial lawyer, did all the evidence gathering, search warrants, etc. Tried about 1000 cases in the Jarines years ago, when he did his mil duty. Was defendant counsel for a notable case where a little bloodbath between some KKK and some black marines took place at Camp Pendleton. He won. Used to pursue Lane county marijuana farms with binoculars from aircraft. After building up a significant clientele in the local correctional institutions, he flipped to defense in private practice and now defends his former adversaries. Talked of sweaty palms when he told one of his first defense clients that his retainer would be $20K and the customer proceeded to wip out his wallet and start counting out 1000 grungy $20 bills. Dan thought about asking this client where'd he come upon such readily negotiable wealth while he was nervously scooping up the wad but thought the better of it for the moment. He skis at Bachelor a lot. His daughter is on a college ski team.
