No one sensible is going to be buying Apple phones for the next 18 months.

It was a nice idea for Apple to try to second-source key components from Intel, but marrying their 5G plans to Intel is going to be very, very costly for Apple.

Intel-based Apple 5G phones won't be available until Fall 2020, while Samsung and other phone makers debut 5G phones this year using Qualcomm chips.

Even better, Qualcomm just won an injunction halting sales of Apple phones in Germany and ultimately all of Europe for violating Qualcomm's power reduction patents.
.

The truth behind Made in China 2025 is Huawei and ZTE wholly depend upon Qualcomm chips for their existence. A ban on sales of US Qualcomm products to China makes that industry vanish. Qualcomm is just making an example of Apple in anticipation of a Chinese jail-break.
