Charles if you look at the MSFT numbers you'll see that on sales of 17 Billion income is a staggering 6.9 billion. Compare this to SUNW with sales of 11 Billion and income only of 900 million.

Income growth rate for MSFT right now is 38% and 5 year growth rate is 30% (which betters SUNW by 12%). Mid term there are no indicators of a replacement desktop for 98/NT/2000 and MSFT has secured roll-out of CE through making agressive and strategic cable/telco alliances lately. Server wise NT/2000 needs work but for most shops that already have MSFT on the desktop chances are they will roll-out NT servers to support them.

The reason DELL is over-valued is because they are the up and coming leader in the PC market; they've got the idea sales model. 30% of their sales are derived from web purchases.

CPQ PE is 22 based on 12/99 EPS numbers. If the new mgmt team can turn things around this will be a 50 dollar stock in the near future. I'd say it's a bargain @ 26. They are the PC sales leader with strong distrubtion arm (TECD & IM). They also own DEC now which has the most powerful CPU's on the planet currently (alpha) which can support VMS, DUX, and NT; nice flexibility.
