Of course I agree that it's good to have monopoly pricing power. But who's to say whether that will last? And to assume it will ever extend beyond the desktop is a leap.

Value Line (4/23/99, page 1116) lists Sun's 5 year earnings growth rate as 34%. I'll take their numbers over yours, thank you, unless you care to tell us where yours come from.

Cell phones and their kin will displace much of MSFT's growth going forward, and CE won't cut it. IBM (ever heard of them?) is shipping Lotus rather than Office with many of its machines.

Dell has done a good job, but is pricey.

CPQ is in disarray, and will probably eventually shut down what's left of DEC and Tandem. They have a PC mentality through and through. If the Alpha survives, it will only be because Intel, which controls its production, wants it to. Supporting all those OS's results in lost focus, not flexibility.

The point remains: SUNW is relatively cheap.
