Spirit of self-reliance's GONE in Texas!!!

Texas tries to ban legal do-it-yourself software

IMAGINE bank tellers suing to ban AMTs, or the printers' union lobbying to outlaw Adobe's design software PageMaker.

It sounds preposterous. But consider the response of some lawyers in Texas to digital technology. Like medieval priests who viewed literacy as a threat to their order, they're striking back.

A subcommittee acting under Texas' Unauthorized Practice of Law statute has served notice to Nolo Press of Berkeley that it's investigating it for practicing without a license. Nolo publishes guides that help people write their own wills, settle their divorces or handle disputes over dogs or with their neighbors.

Next on Texas's Supreme Court agenda: Bordellos sue to ban do-it-yourself SEX!!!
