This Paul Nicholas Whelan arrested in Russia is certainly an odd duck with a criminal mind running a gun business out of his apartment. Court-martialed from the military for continually writing bad checks, followed by jobs working as "head of security" for Kelly TempServices then Borg-Warner. What were they thinking? He spent most of his time during frequent visits to Russia drinking with and meeting Russian military officers. If Whelan's a spy, they're scraping the bottom of the barrel. -- Yet, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman Jr. personally visited Whelan Wednesday in the Lefortovo Detention Facility. That doesn't smell right.
