Acampura made his reputation around the time the finally broke the 4000 barrier. That worried a lot of Wall Streeters who felt the market had reached a dizzying height. At that time Acampura circulated a report entitled DOW 7000, which created a big buzz. It was only a few years ago, but the idea of the Dow going to 7000 from 4000 without a crash or correction (pretty much what happened) was thought to be both crazy and convincing.

It's worth mentioning that the Dow now comprised has at least fifteen laggards that can't be expected to do much for the index. And it seems like the best the strong 15 can do is push the index up to about 9500. The Dow might drop below 8000 (I don't think it will) but if it does, I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that the rest of the market will tank in sympathy, and I don't think that, even in a market meltdown, PM would go much lower than its recent low of 8.50. I think if the Dow and overall market went completely bearish the trading of PM would simply dry up to almost no volume.
