Yesterday there was a news story that Dell was going to include Symantec's utilies in certain of their computers. The Symantec products are much better than Win95's and maybe someone is catching on to that fact. Dell Announces 'Suite' Software Deal on Dell Dimension PCs
AUSTIN, Texas -- Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) announced today that U.S. customers who order Dell Dimension(TM) PCs with the combination of Windows(R) 95 and Microsoft(R) Office application software will receive a free factory-installed suite of four additional, market-leading software titles.
The titles included in the free software suite are:
-- Symantec Norton Utilities, the premier collection of PC-based utilities on the market;
-- Symantec Norton AntiVirus, one of the most robust antivirus programs
available and the first to be optimized for the Windows 95 environment;
-- Symantec Norton Navigator, a package of file management tools and time- saving desktop enhancements; and
-- Visio Express(TM) 4.0, a modified version of Visio's flagship business
diagramming software program for creating flowcharts, geographic maps,
project timelines, organizational charts, office space plans and more.
Dell selected these titles for the new software suite because each includes features that are particularly useful to business customers, who account for more than 90 percent of Dell's sales.
The software suite is the newest feature available on Dell Dimension products, which have earned recognition from some of the industry's most respected magazines. Dell Dimension systems are designed for small and medium-sized businesses and individuals interested in obtaining the latest technologies and features without having to pay a price premium.
Symantec is the industry's leading utilities provider, and its Norton Utilities, Norton AntiVirus and Norton Navigator have proved to be invaluable, easy to use tools for Windows 95 users. Symantec's Windows 95 software has won awards from numerous industry publications.
