I interpret the "not for sale" comment as meaning not for sale *voluntarily*. In other words, NOVL's not actively looking for suitors. Now a "hostile" takeover, that's a horse of a different color. However, many have already mentioned the "poison pill". Not sure exactly how much pain that would cause a hostile-taker over-er.

I think the theory about IBM/NOVL being in talks that fell through is right on. Bet anything that NOVL was asking some outlandish number, north of $20. Just a hunch.
