Good morning! I and Mary Jane want to thank Martin Luther King. He's the guy who really freed the slaves. I don't think it would be disrespectful to have added to the bottom of his list of life accomplishments, "Got a Federal holiday." In a way, he freed the slaves twice.
It's too bad, obviously, that he had to die to get it so soon, but I think it's really nice he got it in our lifetime, instead of later.
I think it would be neat if people, such as myself, un-famous people, obviously, could die for a holiday. Hmmm. What day would I pick - you get to choose the day, o'course. Spring, when everyone wants off work? Winter, when everyone needs off work? Summer, when everyone takes off of work anyway? Fall, add a REAL Cmas shopping day?
Two hundred to two fifty working days in a year, or more. OK, so we need 300 volunteers. I'm ready. I would love to be so useful and remembered fondly.
But the Feds would step in, and get the effective area circumscribed. They would. You watch. They'd say, "Only people get off that day who were born on your birthday." And then, "Only in your state."
