Side question: DOn't know much about java,
yet my general experience is that it is
SLOW. How can JAVA become the standard if
its so sluggish. Do we have to wait until
things are written natively for java?

Well, as a Java programmer, I can tell you that performance is
a big problem now, depending on the type of application you're
writing. However, there are some things to help some, like the
JIT's (just in time compilers). Also, I think the platform
independence and other promises of Java are so huge that it's
gonna continue to spread like wildfire.

A year ago, most of my programmer friends were like, "yeah, I
gotta start learning about Java". Now, almost all of them know
how to at least write an applet, with many of them heavy into
Java.

My opinions only,

John Dodson
