The China Mobile growth in January was impressive.

However, I think the more important data point is the China Telecom number. They LOST 800,000 subscribers in January. They have added between 2-4 million subs a month since December 2008. That is a massive turn in their net subscriber growth.

The economics for carriers who are losing subscribers, particularly high-end subs, are absolutely terrible. All of a sudden subsidies which looked unjustifiable start to make sense....a price war on the high-end in China would be an absolutely great thing for Apple.
