I bought my first AMD while still at Intel in November 1998, after learning the first details about K7. Few months later I was completely out of INTC. There was a remote chance of credible competition to the monopoly -- the risk I was not willing to take.

You don't know this yet, but you have been very lucky, as opposed to say, brilliant, prescient, knowledgeable.

Before you fell in love with the k7 and spotted it to be the Sumna Cum Lawdy that you know it to be, AMD had 40+% of the portable market, now they have ZERO. AMD had 30-40% of the destop market AND the fastest chip, and Intel was grossing 14 Billion a year. Now intel is grossing circa 30 Billion and AMD is losing money at a time when there is no free money left.

JEZZZ...I hope your hand and back are not getting too sore.
