Missiles on alert for Iraqi attack
ISRAEL has deployed Patriot anti-missile missiles to protect its nuclear reactor against possible attack by Iraq. The US-made missiles were deployed near its nuclear research reactor at Dimona in the Negev Desert in the south of the county.

Military officials said the Patriot and Hawk missiles were deployed for "routine" exercises.

Meanwhile, two armed Palestinians were killed in an attack on an Israeli army post in the Gaza Strip yesterday.

Only hours earlier, during a meeting of 13 Palestinian factions, radical groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad repeated their rejection of a security plan hammered out with Israel to withdraw forces in return for efforts to keep the peace.
