It just doesn't sound like there's a lot of internal selection - they just ship and let the market decide.


Sure, they let the market decide and then quickly tailor their future products around that selection. They are definitely going to have more failed products than Apple but it leaves them with less risk since they are quickly filling in the gaps.

Apple does a much better job of getting the product right the first time. However, if they miss a trend, it is going to take them substantially longer to get a product to market.
