What doesn't come out in the balance sheet alone is the fact that during the quarter Identix was in the process of acquiring its largest competitor in the bio-ID market. That alone can account for anomalies in performance. As for government sales, this new acquisition is going to change the proportion of government to private sales radically. The bio-ID market is largely commercial.

As was noted earlier, Identix still has money available under its bank loan, and did not max it out.

The PE in this situation is not particularly relevant. IDX is essentially at breakeven and concentrating on establishing market dominance in emerging authentication technology.
