President Bush Takes Control

By Tammy Bruce on Mainstream Media

I was pleased this morning to point out on Fox News that the president has realized that if he wants his message to be heard by the American people, he needs to put it out there himself. It's now clear that the Mainstream Media has no intention of conveying any sort of a balanced framework about the president and the War on Terror to the American people. Perhaps even the president finally had that crucial realization during an interview with Jim Lehrer on PBS' Lehrer Newshour. Mr. Lehrer repeatedly tried to get the president to speak about the NYT story about the so-called NSA spy scandal, just one day after the astounding Iraqi elections.

Here's part of the exchange via Editor & Publisher:

<<

PRESIDENT BUSH: We don't talk about sources and methods. Don't talk about ongoing intelligence operations. I know there's speculation. But it's important for the American people to understand that we will do--or I will use my powers to protect us, and I will do so under the law, and that's important for our citizens to understand.

MR. LEHRER: I don't want to "beat a dead horse" here, Mr. President--

PRESIDENT BUSH: Okay.

MR. LEHRER: --but the story is now all over the world.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Yeah.

MR. LEHRER: I mean, it's on the front page of the New York Times, the Washington post, every newspaper in America today, and it's going--it's the main story of the day. So--

PRESIDENT BUSH: It's not the main story of the day.

MR. LEHRER: Well, but I mean in terms of the way it's being covered--
[Simultaneous conversation.]

PRESIDENT BUSH: The main story of the day is the Iraqi election.

MR. LEHRER: Right, and I'm going to get to that.

PRESIDENT BUSH: Okay.
>>>

I note to you all the time how the MSM has grown accustomed to deciding what the "main story" of the day is, regardless of the truth of the matter. Thank goodness the president realized that if he wants the truth out there, he has to do it himself. The time is past where convincing the MSM is the order of the day; all the president has to do is convince the American people, and when he speaks, it works. It's obvious, and the president's media blitz indicates he understands, that the MSM cannot be trusted not only to present the truth of the matter when it comes to this nation's security and the truth about the success of the War on Terror in Iraq, but the NYT and Dem "leadership" have shown, with all other MSM in tow, that they are actually willing to put this nation's security, and the lives of Americans at risk in their obscene grab for power and control.

Let's hope we keep seeing GWB in primetime. When the MSM is not in charge of information, we're all better off.

Good on ya President Bush, and keep it going!
