Smatwatches(sic) and Ingestible Computing Discussed at Mobile World Congress (AAPL)
February 28, 2014 11:20AM EST

Smartwatches, glasses, and ingestible / insertable computing were topic yesterday at the Mobile World
Congress. Analyst Brian White of Cantor Fitzgerald touched on the subject and Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL)
rumored iWatch.

"Yesterday, we attended a conference session that focused on the trend toward wearable devices with a

host of panelists that included companies such as Pebble, Martian Watches, Proteus, Misfit Wearables,
and others," said White.

"In the smart watch world, Pebble is one of the more recognizable vendors and Martian Watches is also

one of the industry's early-stage innovators. The panelists are experiencing increased interest in the
wearable market and expect major innovations over the next few years; however, they said they were
unable to identify a "killer app" to drive mass adoption. In our view, the wearable device market needs a
catalyst to drive mass adoption, which we believe could be Apple's iWatch, which we expect to be unveiled
this year," he added.

A lesser-known company named Proteus that focuses on both wearable and ingestible computing was also

on the panel.

“Proteus sees a big opportunity in the ingestible computing market (e.g., a pill with a sensor that is connected

to smartphone), and the company believes this market could really take off in the coming years. Proteus also
sees opportunity over the next five years in the insertable computing market, with sensors implanted under a
user's skin," added White.

Cantor Fitzgerald has a Buy rating on Apple with a price target of $777.00.
