Interesting that you would choose to post that message from Yahoo.

The numbers just don't add up there for me. The poster claims: that his sales of clay based litter is down 35% over the past year.

He further states, in his enthusiasm, that wood based litter is currently less than 15% of the market.

So let's analyze a moment here. If the clay based litter is say for argument sakes no less than the current market share of 85% over the last year, and those sales have dropped 35%, that means at least 30% of the market must have changed to an alternate solution for kitty hygiene. But he says that wood is less than 15% currently.

So there are several possible explanations here that I can see.

1. Kitties are pooping less. This must not be a growth industry.

2. People are letting the cat pans go longer between changing. (See comment in 1.)

3. Kitties are pooping as they always have, but there is a secret war of genocide that is being waged against them reducing their numbers. (See comment in 1.)

4. There is some other type of kitty litter (not wood, not clay based) that is gaining much faster acceptance than wood based at the expense of clay based.

There is a final possibility that I blush to even mention - The guys numbers themselves are cat poop.
