NRO: Will the Republicans keep the Senate? Will the GOP majority increase this year?

Scarborough: Republicans should pick up a few seats in the Senate this year not because they have done well over the past two years, but because the Democrats have done worse — and have disappeared as a significant political force in the Southeast. R's will pick up seats in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, with Florida and Illinois leaning GOP.

I don't know where he's getting that, at least as far as Illinois is concerned. The Democrats appear to have a solid position here for an open seat currently held by a Republican. The only reason the seat is held by a Republican to begin with is that Carol Moseley Braun was such a weak candidate for reelection 6 years ago. Fitzgerald decided not to run for reelection, probably because he had a low chance of winning, even though he is the incumbent and young (mid 40's).
