Every so often I cross paths with a very nice female Circuit Court judge, who is about my age. We run into each other shopping, late at night or on the weekends, at some place like Bed, Bath and Beyond, or Border's. I guess it is because we are both working mothers. I saw her a few months ago, she was considering buying a CD for her son's 16th birthday, the name of the band was "Cherry-Popping Daddies." I was horrified, and told her not to buy it. She said, she thought they were kinda like the Beatles were to our parents generation, just trying to make a statement, and she bought it anyway. I was later surprised to hear the music on WHFS, the alternative station I listen to, it was just swing. Pretty old-fashioned, in fact. They also played a number or two on MTV's New Year's Eve party.
Oddly enough, I was at a Korean grocery store on Monday, and noticed that the sound system was playing rap music, so I stood up to listen to it more closely, and the singers were singing in an Asian language, probably Korean. What was odd about it was that the grocery workers were all older people, not kids. |
