I've updated the title page for this thread.

For 2002:

The S&P 400 lost 15.5%.
The S&P 500 lost 23.4%.
The S&P 600 lost 15.3%.

When will large cap be back in favour? Probably when every dumps their index funds.

I'm just looking at spglobal.com:

Over $1 trillion is indexed to the S&P 500;
Approximately $25 billion is indexed to the S&P 400;
Approximately $8 billion is indexed to the S&P 600.

There is just no way that broad-based index investing in the S&P 500 will continue to yield any sort of superior returns compared to their smaller cousins.
