Material wealth? Power? World influence? I agree.

Western ideals like democracy and capitalism? Not exactly.

I think you're making most of the world out to be more political than they are. What most of the world cares about are simple things like food, clothing, housing, their kids education and their extended families. Only a few care about geopolitics. Remember the pictures of Afghans bringing their TVs out after the Taliban left? That's what people care about.
