Ted, you said our military is supposed to protect us, not topple governments. I used Kosovo, an action you supported, as an example of the military doing the opposite.

You also said when people truly desire freedom, they find a way to topple their governments. Once again, I used Kosovo as an example of a situation where we didn't wait for the people to topple their own government.

I don't know why I have to clarify myself when my point is crystal-clear.


Your point may be crystal clear but your original premise underlying your point would appear to be incorrect. We stepped into Kosovo as part of our treaty arrangement under NATO. There was considerable concern over the stability of this region. That's why we had the support of our European allies.

And it was not the first time we had been in Yugoslavia.......the first was in Bosnia and Sarajevo under a UN mandate.

Unlike Iraq, we didn't decide unilaterally to go into Yugoslavia and topple the gov't. So while your point may be crystal clear......its sitting on a lot of opaque muck.
